1 August 2008 1,185 views Comments Permanent Link

I just received a Newsletter from Twine.

I noticed a one click Unsubscription link

from Twine reply-to Twine to XXXXXXXXXXXX@XXXX.comdate Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 5:15 AMsubject Twine Newsletter - We've Got New Features!mailed-by b.cts.vresp.comsigned-by vresp.com

Here is the Unsubsciption message and url

If you no longer wish to receive these emails, please reply to this message with “Unsubscribe” in the subject line or simply click on the following link: Unsubscribe_Link

The url was
http://cts.vresp.com/u?453d0eb783/5bf2fb0803/c97cd5e

simple enough..
So here goes my recommendations on Newsletters/Emails UnSubscription mechanism

Provide a simple enough short url (The end User should be able to view the entire url in the Status Bar provided the option is enabled) with key only for un-subscription link.

No confirmation required obviously because you don’t presume a threat of the key being received by an authorized person.

No Annoyances… and you might win (As Twine just did mine) the trust of the User even though you are loosing a Subscription for perhaps a single type of messages…

Helps you in the long run.
